1. Information We Do Not Collect

Because of our client-side architecture, we do not have access to, and therefore do not collect, store, or process any of the following:

• Coordinates, geometries, or bounding boxes you enter into our tools.
• GeoJSON, WKT, or other files you paste or load.
• Your geographic location (beyond country/region level inferred by analytics).

All calculations (e.g., coordinate conversions, area measurements) occur in JavaScript executed on your device.

2. Information We Collect (Opt-In)

If you consent via our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use Hello Maps. We collect:

• Page Views & Basic Interactions: Pages visited, scroll depth on blog posts, and clicks on outbound links.
• Tool Usage Metadata: When you successfully use a tool, we track the tool's name (e.g., "coordinate_converter"). We do not track the data you entered.
• Error Telemetry: If a tool encounters a validation or computation error, we track the error type (e.g., "invalid_crs") to help us fix bugs.
• Copy Actions: We track which output formats (e.g., "WKT", "GeoJSON") are copied to clipboard to understand which formats are most popular.

GA4 may collect your IP address to infer general location (city/country level), but Google anonymizes this data and it is not accessible to us in its raw form.

3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use a single local storage key (analytics_consent) to remember whether you have accepted or declined our analytics tracking. This is essential for respecting your privacy choice.

If you grant consent, Google Analytics will set its own cookies to track your session. You can revoke this consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies/local storage for this site.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on a few trusted third-party services to operate the site:

• Cloudflare Pages: We use Cloudflare to host our static files. Cloudflare may log IP addresses and basic request data temporarily for security and DDoS protection. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
• Buy Me a Coffee: If you choose to support us by clicking the "Buy me a coffee" link, you will be directed to an external site. We do not process or store any payment information. See the Buy Me a Coffee Privacy Policy.
• EPSG.io (External API): The Coordinate Converter tool fetches coordinate reference system definitions from EPSG.io directly from your browser. Your browser sends your IP address to EPSG.io when making these requests.

5. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Because we only collect anonymized analytics data (and only if you opt-in), we generally cannot identify individual users. However, you are completely in control of your data:

• You can decline the analytics cookie banner.
• You can use browser extensions (like uBlock Origin) or strict tracking protection to block Google Analytics entirely. The tools will still function 100% normally.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as we add new tools or features. We will reflect any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
